Default Tire Size

OK, this has probably been beaten to death by now, but I couldn't find anything to help with the search feature. I have a 2012 Quad Cad 4x4 with 20in. wheels and a 2.5 in. leveling kit. I am still running the stock 275-60R20 tires on it. What is the biggest tire size I can run without rubbing. Just to say it up front, I REFUSE to use a wheel spacer. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

it's interesting you couldn't find the answer to this using the search function. it's probably one of the top 3 questions asked on this forum.

with the stock wheels u need a narrower tire than say a 35x12.5x20. u could only go that big if u used spacers or a lower offset wheel. so, keep in mind u need to keep it less than 12.5" wide, probably 11ish with stock wheels.

some people say they've been able to clear 35x12.5 with either very minor rubbing or no rubbing at all. but depends on the tires ACTUAL dimension. like my 35s are not even a full 12" wide not 12.5" like written in the side wall

keep searchin. adjusting your key words, guarantee ull find something

Thanks for your help. Everything I've found on the search talks about having to use a wheel spacer. Call me old school, but I don't like the thought of a wheel spacer, lol.

Ya, I think there is a critical piece of info left out when people discuss whether 35x12.5 fit with spacers or not...

It's the difference between what people mean by "Will I rub?"

Person 1 might mean "yes you will rub, and rub bad so you can't even drive it"

person 2 says..no I installed with no rubbing...and what they really mean is "it rubs, but only at full lock and that's easily avoidable)

person 3 says...I don't rub AT ALL anywhere.

Depends on the truck..and the persons definition of "rubbing". My point is...someone might tell you "yes you can fit these tires no problem! They might rub at full lock but who cares?"

Where as the next guy REFUSES to rub ANYWHERE so tells you his tires don't fit...

Am I making sense?

There are some running a 295/60 will work without any issuer and and 285/65 will fit. I have seen trucks with 295/65's on stick wheels also. They are all less than 12.5 wide. I run a 285/60 and they fit before the 2" level, there is plenty of room for a taller tire but anything over a 295 and there is a chance of rub with stock wheels. I had 305/55's on my stock wheels on my 09 2wd and they fit but they were a little wide and rubbed the sway bar near full lock on hard turns and parking.
