In your opinion, is the FM 40 the same volume as the 14" Magnaflow? I am thinking the FM Super 40 or 40 would be louder? Right?

Id say they are similar just a different tone.
So it will be all based on the tone/note you want

I have a 14" Magnaflow and Y on the way...just got out of a truck with a Super 40 setup and dumps so I am wanting to be quieter than this and I imagine the 14 will be perfect. Worried the 18 would be too quiet according to some reviews it's barely louder than stock...but also read that side by side comparison the 18 is deeper so this had me on the fence for a while. But I will run the 14 with the resonators and see how that goes for a few months...should decrease interior resonance some (drone) but still sound great especially after break in. Alternatively I could have done the 18 without resonators I suppose but just thinking of that NOW lol...

Seeking loud enough so it's worth doing (but not as loud as my 07 with Super 40 dumped was) with some added throttle response and any mpg or tq gains that may come (minimal to none I know).

I am considering waiting on a tuner to install so I can shut off MDS but I doubt I can look at it that long and not put it in...either way I will update with my opinions in time. One note though, the stock sport setup has an AWESOME tone to it! If it were 20-30% louder I'd just leave it alone...maybe lol.

Ha! Just what I have read...I personally have not heard any of them in person on a Ram...I did get a Magnaflow catback system for my Charger SRT in 2007 and it was way quiet...I loved the tone/sound but wanted louder...due to the cost of the system I just left it that way as long as I had the car though.
I'll try 14" with resonators and hope it's not too loud but I think my Super 40 dumped HAS to have been louder and thats what I am wanting to "come in under" so to speak. Fingers crossed...IF it's louder than I want I can cut it out and put an 18" in and sell the 14" no problem...

Like anything else, people have different views. I've always used Flowmaster as even though I loved Magnaflow sound every one I heard was too quiet.
Do you have the 14 with resonators still on? That's what I plan to do. Hoping its got great deep tone but less volume than Fm super 40 setup. Thinking...the larger case 18 might be deeper though... Damn it. Back on the fence lol
