Default Had Garmin for years and now this...

Bought my 2012 Laramie and it happend to come with this uconnect 730N/RHR.

The entire system is a pain to operate. The backwards entry system sucks, and does the display and most importantly the navigation is not up to date.

I connect an iPod for music and it only displays one out of nine times when first turning the unit on. I always have to unplug and replug the iPod for it to show on the system.

Navigation with Garmin was always a breeze and correct. This unit I have tried to get used to, but it cannot be used efficaciously. The display is cluttered and unlike Garmin which is easy to see, this one is flat and has only a huge freakin' arrow that blocks a portion of the mapping area. Side streets are not identified half the time and if you zoom in it only gets so close, but not close enough for city use.

Now for the phone. If you like arguing with the system it is great. Other than that, the voice commands are so ridiculous that I usually end up just pressing the keys to avoid frustrating myself into a puddle of quivering goo.

I will never buy another unit with this system in it. VERY UNHAPPY DODGE. For $50K it should have a decent system.

Default Map moved right off my screen!!!!

I'm posting a couple images taken from the passenger seat while riding on interstate. I had selected a destination by input of address. The NAV was directing me though the map "slid" off the screen while the navigation arrow and destination remained. The unit still kept directing me via audio but no map on the screen.

I am so glad I found this forum! I thought I was the only one having such bad luck with the RHR! I have a 3500, going from Tyler, TX to Watford City, ND & back. "Fastest" route is 5+ hours & 600 miles longer than "shortest". Only thing I can figure is "fastest" is based on speed limit since it routed me on interstates except where there was none...now there is an update for $149.00 "not"! Can't count on built in, still need to use Google maps, so what's the point of the extra money spent on built in? I'm going up the chain as well, listed as "VIP" supposedly, pushing it more tomorrow! Also issues with Blue tooth, "tests" fine @ the dealership in shop, need to test driving down the road @ highway speeds! So sad, makes me want to cry every time I use it!
& to top it all off, our semi sometimes gets better fuel economy!

Thumbs down

I also have a 2012 ram long horn and the navigation is absolutely the worst. tried to get to a bed and breakfast just outside of city limits and won't even show the roads. I have to carry a garmin with me and use it . that is wrong and dodge should have a fix for this. if there is one by now I would love to know.
