First, I am confused why a well-established post that was originally in 2012 RAM that I replied to, was suddenly hijacked to Custom Dodge Ram Interior and Exterior Lighting. My question was specific to 2012 Rams, and I feel that by being re-directed, hardly anyone will read it. I realize other model years are affected, but I want input from 2012 owners who have made a plug-n-play change.

That said, if the red truck has Quad headlights, and if I go to the Sylvania web site, and go through their drop-down list, does that mean that I select 2012 RAM Pickup (w/4 H/L), and the correct replacement bulbs are:

H11 Low Beam
9005 High Beam
9145 Fog

Has anyone tried other lights (without any mods required) that give better results?

Which leads me to wonder, if SO MANY Ram owners are complaining about the inadequate lighting (myself included), why hasn't Sylvania come-out with SilverStar Ultras for the fog lights, and some other solution for the low and high beams? Thanks.

Your thread was moved because there is no difference between the '09-'12 headlights, and nothing about your thread is '12 specific. Besides, what you want to do is 'custom' you're not looking to just change the bulbs, everything points towards a swap, which means this thread belongs in its new home.

You have the correct bulb selection for the quad lamps, there is a separate high and low.

The biggest restriction to the headlights is the amount of power that the stock system can put out, so you're stuck with low power halogen bulbs unless you want to HIDs, which I will always recommend since they are SOOOO much better when it comes to light output for the power required.

I am glad I found this. I am looking into the Spyder headlights on ebay. I currently have the quad stock headlights. However, when I look at the description, it says that it is designed for duals, and will not work with the quad setup. But...when I go to the spyder website, it says that the headlights will only work on quad. I am assuming the lister screwed up. Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you.
Brian

I previously owned a 2009 Ram w/Quad headlights, and had no issues with the illumination of the headlamps or fog lights. It wasn't the greatest, but at least I could see, and it didn't cause me to post anything about it. Something has changed for the worst with the 2012. I can't speak for 2010-2011. I think this either needs to go back to the 2012 Ram Forum, or at least be cross-linked.

You're right, the 2012 headlights leave a lot to be desired! Retroshop has a system that's close to plug & play. They modify your lowbeams with digital HID projectors. It's a stunning difference but not cheap! I drive a lot of rural & mountain areas at night. When I first got my truck, I put Sylvania Ultra's in both high & low. There was only a marginal difference. The Retro system with 55w 5000k bulbs are just tons better. I waffled about buying the Retroshop but decided it was relatively cheap as far as safety & being able to see was concerned. I'm really glad I bought them, they're better than the headlights on my AMG plus Jeremy at Retroshop has first rate customer service & helped me with blow by blow instructions while I was doing the install. That being said, if I can install it, anyone can. Also, the high beams are left stock. With the projectors on high, you really don't even need the stock highs, but when you flick in on, it really lights up the night!
