I couldn't pull a 5th wheel AT ALL, a gooseneck is marginal, and by the time the hitch is low enough to pull a tag, trailer, the truck couldn't pull anything hardly! It WASN't that the truck didn't have the puwer to do it, the lift, wheels, and tires made it physically too tall. i had a 6" drop hitch and the hitch is still too tall for most trailers and was weight limited to ONLY 3500# Finally, asking a truck to pull those weights with lift, wheels, and tires problematic at BEST!
Granted,My PW rides a little bit stiffer than it did stock, but not by much. My 2006 3500 Megacab dually 4x4 rode just as stiff as the PW does now,and it was only leveled, but I ran 35" rubber on it also.
The PW has no problem pulling my trailer, and if I needed to pull a gooseneck anymore,I'd still have the dually.
If the PW was a daily driver,I would've probably went with a long arm setup, but I only drive it a couple days a month when I'm off work. It rides a lot smoother than my 18 wheeler does on the terrain that I drive on at work.
I have nothing against the lifts that are out there that make these HD 3/4 - 1 ton trucks ride smooth, but then the suspension castrates the hauling/towing capacity of the truck,so you might as well buy a 1/2 ton truck and lift it if you want a truck that rides like a car.
