Does anyone know if you can you take a PCM from a '10 Ram and put it in an '09?

I have read through the forums that they used one manufacturer of the PCM for '09 and had problems. In '10 they went with a different manufacturer and problems went away. Well apperantly between now and then the manufacturer of the '09 PCM went by-by and they are now hard to get (which is why you had to wait so long and I had to way 2.5 months when I had mine replaced last year).

Since the '09's have problems and the '10's don't, is there any reason why we can't swap?

How much does all this swapping cost if you are say, out of warranty?

I would think the only thing needed after a PCM swap from a 2009 to a 2010 would be a flash at the dealer so the EVIC works correctly.

Reading through these posts, because I think I might have a PCM problem.

First off, I'm going to do some internet searching to see if I can find out, but what is "TIPM"? Where is it located in 2009 Ram (Hemi engine), and anything special I would need to know about in disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors?

On to what brought me here originally. My truck is acting strange to say the least. Intermittenly over the last several months, my truck won't start in the morning. The battery will be drained. But, in having the battery tested, it tests fine. (I also think the battery is fine). I also have issues with the remote start just starting my truck whenever it feels the urge, the lock button on my key fob not locking the vehicle, but unlock works fine. I've also had it in a couple of times for the controls for heat/cool not working right. That was something to do with doors opening or closing directing the air. It just seems to be alot of things that are making me start to point to a faulty brain, and isnt' the PCM basically the brain?

Also, has anyone gotten confirmation on whether the PCM is covered under the Powetrain Warranty. I am at about 46k, and am out of the 36k / 3 year warranty.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

TIPM = Totally Integrated Power Module. It is the thing under the hood that is often called the Fuse Box cuz it also houses all the fuses.

Based on your symptoms, I will be very surprised if you have a PCM issue. It sounds more like Instrument Cluster or TIPM. I'd start by cycling all the connectors on the TIPM.
