Been doing my own oil in every car i have owned, been doing the truck since i picked her up with 5600 miles on her, went strait home and changed the oil with Royal purple and a K&N filter.

Usual cost is about $80 in materials, This time its a little over $100 im addding a Fumoto oil drain valve to make the operation 100% tool less.... well minus me haha.

$7? Wow that's awesome! My dealership charged $80, and I thought taking to one of those quick change places would be cheaper...wrong same price.....and that's with regular oil. Just changed it myself with castrol synthetic with a fram synthetic oil filter for$65. Made a bit of a mess and took longer than I expected but the truck seems to run smoother and the satisfaction doing it yourself is worth the time.

I personally do not take my vehicles to or trust the quick lube places anymore. They will always try to up sell me - even when I specify oil change only. Many times they plain lie about what I need (I have first hand experience with this). I did my own oil changes for years but don't have the time to these days.

When I bought my truck, for an extra $700 I bought a card that gives me free oil changes for LIFE at my dealership. So far in 37,000km I have had 7 oil changes. They also top up my washer fluid each time. So my cost is $100 per oil change so far.... in another 7 oil changes it will be $50... 7 more $25 etc. Kinda makes me want to keep my truck forever, lol
