This topic comes up every now and again but there were a few really long threads about the BBK headers. I don't want to be that guy that guy that tells you to dig up the old threads. Yes, they are the cheapest option but maybe not the best for 4th gen. The BBK's did not change the header flange ports to match the new exhaust outlet ports for the 4th gen heads. Now, I am not saying that they are bad as the stock manifold because no one has done a before and after comparing the 2. But if you can afford a little more the JBA's do not have the port problems and are a straight drop in for replacement for the stock manifolds. I have the JBA's and I am pretty pleased with them. I am not saying you won't get results with the BBk's since you might. But since those original posts exposing the port matching issues awhile back not many on here are using them. Keep in mind the JBA's and BBK's both came out around the same time probably a little over a year to year and half ago. Other than that the only options were the expensive Long Tube brands over $1000. Some have gotten Jeep SRT8 headers to work but those would require some custom exhaust work.

I just bough a set from a guy that had them on his truck for about 3 months. He is trading it in. The ports are not D shaped but they are over shape. I really see no issue with this. He had some pretty descent gains off of them. Build quality is good. They are silver ceramic coated. I payed $150. So I really couldn't go wrong. Really busy with work so probaly won't get them installed till the end of may. I will let you know my final thoughts !

If you get them installed and they work out well for you then it sounds like you got quite a deal at $150 for a coated header. Please share your install and feedback as I'm sure people would be interested due to the price of the BBK's.

My free set from BBK...

Last night I installed my BBK headers. As soon as I started it up I heard the leak. Its gets louder as the rms climb, and does not go away at anytime. It seems to be coming from both sides.

During the install I used new oem gaskets, anti sieze on the new bolts (supplied by BBK), along with Grade 8 Locking Wahsers as a preventive measure. So far theres only 5 miles, along with a couple hard launches (:drivingz on the clock since the install.

Now I KNOW the "Hemi Tick" will get louder after the install. Due to the thinner walled piping. But I dont think its that. The passenger side went it pretty easily, drivers side not so much. Between the oil dip stick, steering linkage, and brake lines... Lets just say there were some very choice words used when rmoving the manifolds and man handling the BBK's in.

All in all I think its leaking at the collectors. The header bolts were tightened per mftr spec in an "X" pattern from the center out.

Sorry for the wind. I didnt have a chance to listen to the vid before the install...

It looks like u took your inner fender wells out and went in through the side? I have heard that the bolts that come with the headers are not the best. I'm still trying to figure out which bolts and gaskets to go with? We're u able to get your leak stopped? Are you happy with your investment?

I was told the opposite about the bolts. I used a little anti sieze and grade 8 locking washers on them. Along with brand new oem manifols gaskets I got from the dealer. I havent drove the truck much since the install. Ill torque them down again this weekend. And yes, Im happy with them. Even if Id paid for them, Id still be happy.

Yes.

Ive been ive contact with the VP Ken Murphy.I brought it to his knowledge that the original port design was that of the 3rd gen Hemis (Circle and not D shaped), and that it needed to be changed. After six months of emails back and forth, he let me know that my free set was in the mail. I had no clue I was getting them. Nor was I expecting them. I wasnt the only person to inform them at the time.
