the fix is to take the fob apart and bend up the 4 tabs that make contact with the battery. Over time they bend down and dont make good contact. Every 6 months or so my fob will not unlock doors and i just take it apart and bend the tabs back up a little and its as good as new, hope this helps

Default Great job Ram1500fan

You nailed. Once I went back in with my new batteries and uplifted all 4 prongs for contact. Viola! Good as new. Thanks for saving my the service charge at the dealership over something so silly.

Best wishes my friend!

Jim

Been having trouble with my FOB. Used to work great, now I have to press it several times to get it to work. Going to bring it in this week. It will probably work fine at the Dealer.

The trick with the prongs worked for me as well. After a couple months, the remote takes a handful of presses to work. Just remove the battery and lift up the prongs (replace battery) and put back together and it works like new.

Wonder if you can place a small piece of paper towel or something to keep the prongs from being smashed down over time.

There've been other threads on this issue. The prong idea might be a good one, but I'd be careful about bending them too many times.

For me the alcohol trick has been the magic. From time to time, my fobs will work less and less. All I do is open them up and carefully clean all of the contacts and both sides of the battery with rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. I've done it now 3 time, and after each time, they work perfectly again, and continue to for a number of months. It's funny that they look perfectly clean when I open 'em up, but there must be some film or something that affects the contact.

I'll pass credit for it to another owner/poster.
