Default Oil Filter Change 5.7

Any one have any good ideas on how to change the oil filter from spilling out during changing? Kind of a bad position if you ask me. Unless I am missing something.

Thanks to all in advance

I had the same question and got some great answers! I like the coke/pepsi bottle idea. Take a look...

I just tried the plastic zip loc bag trick for the first time yesturday .

no oils spilled all over which was great , but once the oil got all over the inside of the baggie it was hard to spin the filter and the bag wanted to spin with it ..

I will try the 2 litre pepsi bottle next time and if I dont like that then the I will just have to take the 30 seconds to clean up the oil .. o well no big deal

Drain the oil out of the pan first, most of the oil from the filter will go back into the pan. Wont be as big of a mess.

Well Draining the oil out of the pan is always the first step. Still a lot of oil comes out of the filter. I think next time I will try drilling a hole in the bottom of the filter and see how that works out. I may put a relocation kit on it.

Thanks for all the replies. Plastic bag and stuff works, except when the oil is hot tends to burn through it. I love my Mopars but they jacked this all up……

My experience with 2-oil changes is, yes there is a mess because of the filter location, but clean-up is quick and easy.
