Dodge/Ram cannot control the suppliers. Increasing the price means you sell less vehicles. I work for an automotive supplier and Dodge/Ram is not the first nor will it be the last to run into an issue with a supplier shortage. The company I work for supplies to KC Ford plant. The Ford line has stopped many times because of supplier shortages for transmissions and engines among other things. Sometimes shit happens.

I don't think that Chrysler truly thought that the HEMI/8 speed combination would be in such demand

Chrysler's parts supply chain is called 'JUST IN TIME', they don't have warehousing for parts,
I believe that a weeks worth of parts may be onsite & another weeks worth of parts show up Just in Time to start the next weeks production schedule
