If someone does use ATS or Sharadon, make sure they dont have an issue with you using Diablo for tuning, and void the warranty.

I won't get into the tuning debate, that one's been flogged to death already. However, when it comes to transmissions, I just installed my 545/68RFE hybrid trans from MGH (Mike) at L&M customs. First thing he tells everyone is it need custom tuning, which is obvious given everything he changes, but it just went in today so only time will tell how long it lasts.

I'm doing the trans swap now to work out any bugs and the new power plant goes in at the end of summer.

So did you ship him a trans and he just rebuilt it?

He had a core and I'll be shipping my old trans to him for him to cover core for his next customer. He does a bunch of internal machining of the 545rfe case and then starts packing in the 68rfe clutch packs, reworking of the valve body, and conversion of the pump to high pressure.

How long is the turn around time? Im very interested in this im thinking of adding the ripp kit in september along with a built trans.

...and that's with the upgraded TripleLok converter

core credit is $1400, so net cost will be well under $3k

I got the MGH trans installed last Friday and we're dialing in the tune right now. The low- and part-throttle shift schedules are great, my WOT schedule is causing issues at the 2-3 shift and putting the trans into protection mode. Mike and Josh are revising the tune and then I'll be having some fun.

I looked into the ATS trans but I'm not that impressed with them on bigger HP rigs, there are still regular failures with them and so much is because of poor or a complete lack of proper programming. For half the price of the ATS I'm willing to try the MGH trans and see how it goes.
