To make some replies here:

Source: Hearsay. Search for "diesel forum". There is a post that was followed up by what the dealer said and what Chrysler said so I personally do believe it to be true; why would someone make up original problem with follow up that can be checked out? Chrysler stepped up to the plate, did a buyback and the guy got a new truck. This is the very reason I have decided to go ahead with my purchase.

We can look at these forums and say things like "But only the people with problems post." IMO this is most probably true. But it does NOT discount that there are many problems with the radio being reported and it does not discount what the dealer told this guy nor what the regional rep said and that is that the radios are on backorder with no particular delivery date due to so many needing replacement. I certainly wouldn't doubt that Chrysler has changed manufacturers but have no way of verifying that.

In the end everyone has to spend their own money and be satisfied. I posted this as a "heads up" is better than "head-in-the-sand".

Personally I bet going with Harmon Kardon originally was a management decision rather than an engineering decision.

And yes, IMO this is going to turn out to be an inconvenience thing rather than a reason to not buy a vehicle, but who knows.

To the poster about Ford sync problems. I have read those too but have a Ford that has given 0 Sync problems. I am hoping to have a RAM by the end of the week with the same.

The Crow 1994 will become famous soon enough

I'm not worried about the HK manufactured 8.4a in my, yet to be delivered, Ram. If I happen to get a bad unit, it will be replaced and I will be given a loaner truck in the meantime. My wife's 2010 Chevy Equinox's navigation unit was having an issue (a known problem). The unit kept defaulting itself to Washington, DC and every time we went to drive it, it would begin playing from a different input (HDD, USB, XM radio, etc.). We ended up taking it to the dealership twice before it eventually got fixed. All manufacturers have issues with electronics. It's just the nature of the beast.
Mod List: Line-X Platinum Spray-On Bedliner, BakFlip VP Tonneau Cover, TufTruck 1223-V HD Coil Springs, Bilstein 4600 Shocks, Air Lift 1000 Air Bags, Air Lift Wireless One Remote System with On-board Compressor, & Weathertech Digital Fit Floor Liners
