Not if U are bald I don't tip bartenders either since I drink alone...lol I'm a cheap SOB I guess . If someone gives me good service I promote their business loudly by word of mouth. I can send a lot of customers their way, that is how I "tip". I'm in business for myself so I see lots of people everyday.

I agree with just about everyone so far.

I tip somewhat modestly, but if there's an instance that someone goes above and beyond, I also take that into consideration.

Maybe a little more around the end of the year holidays.

at the local car wash i tip all the time, not much
they vacuum & hand wash off all the heavy grime, bugs, & wheels, before it goes into the machine & when it comes out they hand dry & do a quick detail on the interior. It may be their normal job, but they do it well

i eat at cheap restaurants, $12 meals tops, $2 tip if i eat in
good bars with table delivery may get a $1 tip per drink

i am a cheapo

I usually tip pretty well for good waiter/ waitress service. I worked for tips (on top of captains pay) on a party fishing boat. And now, as the yard manager of a marina, I know that my guys go above and beyond for good tips upon launching/hauling. That's not to say that with no tip, they preform bad service. I would not allow it. Just saying, a tip from a customer sticks in your mind for the next time.

One thing I forgot to say. It's not that I'm a mizer, but sometimes things can get tight.

I do however make it a point that when I would revieve an unexpected tip, I usually kept it in mind. Not only to the customer that did it, but by spreading at least half of it back out to a deserving soul.

I generally tip well such as at a restaurant for good service, but do not tip at "tip jars" such as at counters. I would never go to Jiffy Lube, but if I did, I would not tip. By the way, for bad service, rather than not tip at all, I leave a ridiculously low insulting tip as I feel doing so sends a more clear message... your service was bad.

I agree, I pretty much only tip at restaurants, bars, etc. They have tip lines on the receipts when I PICK UP pizza lol. I put a big fat $0.00 there. I am a good tipper though, if deserved.

I went in for an oil change last week to a drive-thru Jiffy Lube while I was out of town and when it came to paying for the work, they had a tip option you couldn't work around on the card machine. There was no "Add Tip" request, it was just a $ or % option. I have never seen a tip option at any oil change place and I don't feel that there should be.

I didn't add a tip because I don't feel that something like an oil change warrants a tip. They did not do any extra service for me, hell they didn't even check if all my lights were working (had fiddled with HIDs earlier and one wasn't working). While I was pulling out I know the one tech looked for how much the tip was and was obviously pissed that there was nothing.

To me, a tip is warranted under situations such as restaurants/pubs where someone has to take an active approach to keep me satisfied.

I'm curious to know what people would do in this situation. If there is a tip option, do you feel pressured into adding a tip?
I feel no pressure to tip anywhere. I tip at restaurants as it is part of their pay. However it is not my problem that they decided to base paying their bills on how generous strangers will be. If I get shit service I will leave a shit tip. I will leave the customary 15-20% unless the service blows me away.
