I am in the same boat as you, I will not run anything but JL's, except the few instances where it takes me a few months to get around to swapping out the factory speakers

Thanks

If your going to run the speakers off the deck then use a speaker rated for 35wrms or less. if you buy a speaker rated at 60wrms and use 15wrms you aren't going to get any low end out of them. Match the speakers to the source power; or upgrade the source to drive your favorite speakers. Either way keep them close to balanced and you will enjoy the best sound reproduction from your system.

well as it turns out, since i replaced the receiver, the sound is alot fuller..including the rear speakers. I can actually hear those now! So, Ill not replace any as Im content (for now) with what the new deck did for me to get the sound back!

You'd be amazed how much more clear new speakers will be. A few midrange aftermarket speakers will make a big difference when coupled with your new head unit.

Just FYI, peak wattage is the max something can output for short periods. RMS watts is what it is putting out constantly. For example, a head unit rated at 50W X 4 would have 4 channels with a peak wattage of 50 watts to each speaker, but the RMS is more important. 2 head units can have different RMS ratings and still be labeled as 50W x4. One may have 17 watts RMS while the other has 22 watts RMS.

Keep your HU, buy a line out converter ( decent one around 80 bucks) then you can add any four channel amp . It basically taps into speaker output wires from the HU and then you connect the new amp to HU with rca cables. The amp is what drives your speakers. Even if you replaced the head unit its still going to sound inferior to most amps. With this set up your speaker choice is huge keeping in mind wattage, ohms ect. You could pick up a good quality amp and LOC for under 200. As for installation I would have a pro do it or take your time and read all the how-tos on here and other car audio forums.
