So it turns out the exhaust leak is coming from the headers. Not happy because they were on the truck when I bought it used to a warranty is out of the question. I will be moving to Cali soon and longtube headers aren't legal there anyways so now I need to start looking into a new set of shortys. Anyone that has experience with shortys that can offer some advice of a good pair street legal I should be looking at? And the best place I should order them from for a cheaper price. Thanks

Or am I better off buying a new (cheaper) pair of lt headers. It will also take some work to convert my setup from lts to shortys if I decide to go that route.

First piece of advice I would give you is don't move to California if you don't have to but apart from that I think that JBA shorties are the only California legal headers you can get for your truck.
With the JBA's you will also need factory stock cats as there are no aftermarket cats for the 07 hemi that are 50 state legal at this point. By law the smog tech has to look at the numbers stamped on the aftermarket cats to make sure they are the correct model for the car or truck they are on. Not all places do but they should and could.

If you can keep your truck registered somewhere else I would probably do that and either fix or replace the headers you have now with something that will go in place of them.

I too say that keeping it registered out of California is a good option
If you are coming out here because you are in the Military, you don't have to register it in Cali
Secondly, depending on where you are going to in Californication, you may not have to go through Smog tests.
I live in the general Metro area of San Diego & i have to jump through the Smog hoops
If i lived 40 miles east of where i do, i would not have to do that & i would still be in California

the Smog rules have changed a bit since i last checked, i inserted the Zip Code for Pine Valley California, ( the place that i mentioned earlier ), i could still move up there & not have to worry about the Smog rules. People new to Pine Valley, California would have to pass 1 smog test & never have to do it again, until the vehicle is sold

I would be moving to Grass Valley...like 45 mins north of Sac. I have thought about the idea of keeping it registered here. CA smog is BS...and I really don't wanna get rid of my longtube or aftermarket cats. The cats are only 3 months old. I guess for the sake of ease, I will just stick with lts...next I have thinking about pacesetters since that seems to be a pretty common choice...only problem is I have seen the price very so much that I wasn't sure what I might order will be right. Ive seen $345-$718. Can anyone direct me to a reasonably priced pair. Or any other recommendations on brand before I put an order out?

Forgot to add....my muffler shop said that they probably wouldn't be able to fix they if in fact the leak is coming from the headers. He said that it would probably just leak again

Maybe I don't need new headers. This is what I found. Pic 1 is a lousy weld job right next to the front o2 sensor. Pic 2 is bank 2 collector leaking and lousy seal job. Pic 3 is a minor leak and another lousy seal job. I will have these fixed and have them look into the collector from the inside to make sure there isn't any leaks where the headers run together. But I did not see anything there that raised a flag.
