I can't believe I read 16 pages, your thread is awesome and Kudo's to your patience I know I sure as hell don't have it. Great job on the build write up as well, and keeping a level head with all your troubleshooting.

Sad to say but my patience has finally come to an end. This truck has 325K miles on it now. The engine idle is becoming low and erratic. The output shaft on the "fully rebuilt" tranny is worn, leaking and I get solenoid "click" plus a clunk when I shift between park/drive/reverse. I still have oil dripping from the pan and many other little tell tale signs that it's time to let this one go.

I picked up a 2003 single owner Ram with 68K miles on it this morning. It's a reg cab short bed with a V6 but the price was right and it will work just fine for my new daily commute. I quit my old job with the 150 mile daily commute and took a much better job just 6 miles from my house so my driving needs have just been drastically reduced.

Spent the last two days swapping a ton of parts over...Rims, tires, spare tire, tow receiver, Billstein shocks, rear bumper, driving lights, Billet Grill, RB1 Nav/Sirius Head unit, power seats, Tailgate assist, 7 pin wiring harness, Airraid Air filter, Hood lift cylinders, wiper blades and a ton of little things like glovebox skin, glovebox light, visor with mirror and a few more things that were in better shape on the old truck than the new.

So far the only thing I can find wrong with the new truck is the rubber boots are dried out on the upper control arms. They are still tight but will have to be changed out before long.

It's scheduled to have all the windows blacked out next weekend so it's not quite finished but here's some before and after pics from the weekend.

As purchased pic...

After two days of wrenching...

I know others have said this but I cant believe I read this whole thing from beginning to end either LOL. I was really hoping to see a post with 400k miles but oh well I guess your old truck had a really good run and I am sure your new truck will also.

Well the old truck is still in the driveway so it could hit 400K miles yet, it may just take a bit longer.

6 weeks at the new job and I only logged 450 miles on the new truck. Not bad considering I used to log 800 miles a week at the old job.

I'm toying with the idea of going thru the old truck and making it 100% again and then making my wife drive the 2003. I hate having payments and I need to break her cycle of leasing a new car every 3 years. She would enjoy driving it and we could put the $5K/yr towards paying off our mortgage sooner.
