Steel tanks suck, I've replaced a bunch of them from rust.
Well now I know of another point to jack the truck up from for a left rear tire change...lol. I didn't see that in the manual though...

I can see steel tanks being an issue on salted roads...we don't salt them since we already have deer problem as it is...

The power wagon has a guard around it and someone just posted the part numbers after this post for the under guarding - I didn't read it so I am not sure if it included the gas tank guard

The 32G tank does sit below the frame rail.

What about the regular 26G tank ?

This is actually the 2nd automobile I've owned with a plastic tank. The first was a 1995 Cadillac Deville and it was unshielded too. Of course, who'd go rock crawling in that? I thought the Tundra was plastic but turns out it is steel, ironically, with a thick plastic tray "shield" on the bottom of it.

I don't plan on doing hard core rock crawling but my road is a torture track and I'm liable to come home or leave home with a hole in this big ol plastic tub.
seems ramforumz trashes links to the competition Google this"power wagon ram 1500 fuel tank skid plate" and you'll find it.

A lot of sites of this magnitude do.

Never understood the thinking behind it....
