Default help crazy ticking

Hi, I have a harsh ticking sound comming from passenger side. It started about a month ago i drove to work in the morning truck was perfectly fine. I worked my shift got back to the shop fired up the truck had it started ticking incredibly bad and my engine light came on. I recieved the code and it said random cylinder missfire. I changed the oil put a better oil filter on and the light went away. The ticking didn't stop. I then noticed my exhaust manifolds were broke so figured thats what the sound was. I put new bolts in and gasket torqued to specs and the sound is still present. A guy at work said it could be a lifter. I took the valve cover off and everything looks fine rocker arms are tight and the springs dont appear to be broken. Has anyone had the same problem? Oh and its like the ticking is with the rpms. Doesnt matter the speed I go the ticking is always present.

Thats odd...Changing the oil wont make is random misfire disappear. Do a compression test on the cylinders. See that that comes up with. Im thinking it could be a bad valve or valve guide.....something in there causing your issue.

My first thought would have been the manifold. Loose or broken manifold bolts in our third gen trucks are pretty common. My next thought is the rocker/valve assembly. I'm no mechanic so excuse me if I don't explain it right but basically some of our trucks had issues with poorly designed valve springs that can break or shift from where they are supposed to be. Depending on the severity of it, I would think the second issue would lead to a very poor running engine as well. Sounds like you have already addressed both of these areas though so I'm at a loss. Keep us updated on how your issue progresses.

Default Same issue (I think ?)

I started my truck up and straight away it sounded like a dieisel engine...ticking sound from the enginem (I could still drive it and it did not seem to hamper the performance at all...?).
I finally brought it in and they said everything on top (under the valve covers looked tight) then they said it was 2 faulty lifters.
Having them all replaced now.
If I get the truck back and it so much as makes a fart in a church, it's straight back !

My 04 Hemi makes a little noise that I would label lifter noise. Like a quiet but definitely audible tapping. Not sure if it's normal or not but I've had the truck for about a year now and put about 8K miles on it with no issues. I have always assumed it was normal but now I'm wondering if maybe I should have it looked at just to be on the safe side. It really isn't noticeable except at idle.

That wuld be my suggestion, too. Lifters ticking when broken.
If you change them will solve the symptoms, but not the cause.
You probably have lot of dirt in the oil system . That's what sits as residue in the tiny oil channels in the lifters.
If you get your truck back, I would recommend, run your oil warm and fill oil system cleaner in and let it idle for 20 minutes. Then do an oil change
I do this every 30000 miles since I drive cars.
You will be suprised how much dirt comes out.
The only danger is, if you have high mileage, your seals can start leaking.
The seals harden out by the time and the same residue what closes the oil channels seals them.
You need to know for your self if it's worth it.
At a new vehicle or lower mileage no problem.
Good luck.
