I used a lockpick and a pair of Alpine monitors that I cut into the factory headrests.
It started out in my 2011 and worked perfectly. I am in the process of moving it to my 2012. I don't anticipate any problems. The nice part is that all the power you need comes through the lockpick adapter as well so no need to splice anything else.
The lockpick will allow you to run the video from the front. You can also enable the VES which if you have IR headphones with the screen you could send the radio, sattelite or HDD music through the headphones as well. You will also have "dual zone" capability if you set it up for headphone audio as well. This means you can have the video and headphones in the back and still play your music over the car speakers if you want.
Overall I love it. I really like that there is nothing hanging down and blocking my rear view mirror as well.
This is from my new 2012. I just set the headrests in for now. I am getting Katzkin leather and will wire everything when I put the new leather on. In my 2011 when it was wired up, you never saw any wires or cables.
Good luck with your setup, I hope it makes your family as happy as mine has been.
