Default Need help lifting!!

I have a 2013 dodge ram 1500 express model i would like to put a 3" body lift or a 4" suspension lift any recommendations cause i cant find any body lifts for the express model so someone please help me. Thank you.

Personally I'd go with the 4" suspension lift over the 3" body lift. Yes it's more money, but it's the proper way to do it IMO.

For 4" lifts Rough Country is the cheapest. But what I don't like about their 4" kit is that it uses a rear coil spacer rather than lift springs. For that reason I recommend the Zone kit instead. It comes with 3" lift coils for the back instead. With either kit I would also use Bilstein 5100's to properly level the truck with the lift.

Now that being said. The price difference to go with a 6" kit over a 4" kit is very minimal. $150 of a difference in the Rough Country kits.... So I recommend spending a little more money and going with the 6" kit. You'll probably end up regretting the 4" kit down the road wishing you had gone higher. For the small price difference you might as well doing it right the first time.

^^^^ this is true.

also from what I found getting quotes from shops for install of both kinds of lifts....shops hate installing body lifts and wanted around $1000 for the kit and install. for another $500-600 bucks I can get a full 6" suspension lift...

that only applies if I don't do the install yourself obviously.

I'd also go suspension lift over body

What Brandon said ^^^ if you're wanting to go with a 4" just pay the little extra and go to a 6" well worth it. I wanted to do a 4" and if i did i know i would have regretted it.

I agree. I'd just go with a 6 inch suspension lift. However there is nothing wrong with a body lift. They are a great value, if you can install it yourself.

I can install either kit myself but the reason I was leaning towards a body lift vs. suspension was due to the fact with my last truck I put a 4" suspension lift and i loved the look but after like one year the whole front end needed to be replaced. Any recommendations and is there anyone who knows if they even make the body lift.

I would venture to guess that the premature front end component wear on your last truck had more to do with the size of the wheels/tires and how the truck was used than the lift kit. Most people lift trucks for two reasons, to add larger tires/wheels or for improved offroad performance. Both increase wear and tear by themselves but when you combine both it really increases.

Can anyone explain why a body lift would be so bad... Just curious cause I'm thinking about the same. Until I do a susp. lift. I will be doing my own work. Just wondering about pros and cons. Please chime in !!!!

Part of the reason I don't like them is because I'm OCD when it comes to my truck and the alignment of things. If you lift the body there's tons of things that stay low attached to the frame. Like the hitch for example, you'll end up having a huge gap between the bumper and hitch which I think looks ridiculous. Things like tow hooks won't line up properly etc. I can just see there being problems with wiring not reaching and all that stuff. Plus you'll open your hood and your engine will be even lower in the compartment....

My opinion is to do a suspension lift first, you can easily get 7.8" out of suspension if you want to. Then if you still want more height a body lift is your only option. I doubt most people will need to go that high.... Overall I just think body lifts are kinda half assed. I'd rather spend the money and do a proper suspension lift.

All valid points, already changed my mind. The engine three inches lower is not acceptable. Thought about the hitch and exhaust which I could have dealt with , forgot about the engine(duh) brain fart. Imagine a 3in. Longer tube for the vararam..lol. Anyway appreciate the quick feedback.... Looks like a six in. BDS or procomp still undecided on that. Any want to chime in on a great lift. I'd rather spend the $$$ and get a good lift. I've heard mixed reviews about RCX.
