Was it an easy install? I mean, I know it should have been easy but are there mounting points to hold it secure or can it move around a lot? Did everything line up easily? I can't remember for sure but isn't there a sensor....air temp sensor I think...that is supposed to plug in just before the TB? Or maybe that's different on the 4.7L.

I have to wonder....other than a better quality filter, what's so special about the name brand kits that make them so much better? When it comes to the intake pipe itself as long as it's the proper size and strong enough to not dent or crush easily than what more could you ask for?

I know this has been discussed before but I also wonder about the differences between the stock box that pulls air through the hole in the fender and something like this. It looks like the filter is tucked on down there where fresh air would be coming in from below but the intake portion is still inside the actual engine bay where the stocker is not. I wonder which performs better overall?

very easy install. filter was a tight fit but it worked. mine has no sensors on it. just the hose to the airbox. there is a hole with a rubber grommet for the sensor, mine was just plugged since i didnt need it. there was mounting brackets but i didnt use them, saving it for a BT catch can LOL. everything lines up pretty good and easy. since its a big filter it wont move around at all. nice and tight fit. it sits right at the fender kinda like where the stock box gets the incoming air. the only thing i wanna do is add a heat shield cause it sits right on top of the engine and the pipe was a bit warm

Hmmmm, that make me wonder if maybe that's why most name brand intakes use plastic piping instead of metal. Surely it would have to stay a little cooler. A warm intake pipe is going to heat up the air passing through it. K&N makes a metal piped intake though so I dunno. Thanks for the reply though!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I agree on the price issue. Seems to me that the name brand intakes are extremely overpriced for what they are. It's plastic and paper!!! Lol.

ok. so i been thinking about getting some plasti dip for the intake. says its good on temps of -30F to 200F. thoughts???
