I'm having my backup sensors serviced on Friday (RAM 1500 Outdoorsman). I'll let you know how it goes and what they replace.

I received a call from the dealer this morning, and they said that they'll be replacing two of the sensors (on order). So I reckon it's as easy as that.

I'm not sure when the sensors are going to be in, but I'll check back when they're installed. We had a rough winter this year, and I wonder if there was a bunch of water, slush, ice, salt, and what-not that got up in the sensor and caused it to fail.

Just got back from the dealer and my backup sensors are fixed. According to the service ticket, the system registered codes for two bad backup sensors. They swapped in two known-good sensors, and the problem ceased. They swapped positions with the other two sensors and the codes moved. The bad sensors were replaced, codes cleared, and all is well now.

They were the two outboard sensors. This winter, there was an extraordinary amount of slush, ice, and salt buildup in the bumpers in the corners behind the wheels. I suspect this led to their demise. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to fab some sort of fairing for that area (or use mud flaps - my last choice) to deflect any buildup of that sort.

Anyway, problem fixed and moving on!

Best regards,
Chris
