Default muffler swap...extensive work?????

Just got back from carx..they said the muffler swap from stock to fm super44 will be extensive. They advised they need to weld hangars to support it. I explained the new muffler is significantly lighter and thus wouldn't need. They also want to weld extension pipe on the two exit holes. I said why don't you just weld one to the entrance side. How hard is this from experienced modders

They are correct about welding new exhaust hangers. The stock hangers are on the back off the muffler therefore the pipes from the muffler back are support by that. When the muffler is removed there is no longer support. So that will need to be done.

As for the pipe extension, you are 100% correct. The extension should be on the front of the muffler, not the back.

Overall it's not that difficult of a mod at all. Any shop should be able to do it in about 30 mins max.
