I turned mine off cause it came on and off constantly and the sound with the magnaflow was annoying. Plus now I can tow my small trailer without using the tow mode and get better mpg since the tow mode ate gas up on the highway. Now I just slap it on and go to the next job. Plus I didn't notice any real mpg loss off a full tank. I will gladly give a a mpg or so for a truck that drives the way I want. I bought hemi cc with ram boxes cause I wanted a big comfortable truck I could pack things in and people not cause I wanted good gas mileage. Although I get almost the same mpg out of my Ram with 110k as my bosses f150 fx2 that has stock wheels and tires where I have aftermarket 20's with the 285/60 duratracs which are much heavier. Now waiting for a 13 I like and then take this intune and shut the mds off in it soon as I can

have a 2012 and when MDS or ECO mode kicks in it is really noticeable from 35-55mph Dealer can not do anything about it because chrysler does not see it as a warranty issue

I've been turning my off with the -+ button and have gained a constant 1.5 gain compared to leaving it on. I have 3.92s with flowmaster 40 and 295/70/18's. No programmer yet.

I don't have an issue with the MDS but I find if you set your pace and keep it the same rpm for as along as you can you get better gas milage. I feel I can achieve better gpm without the mds. I drive gentle and this mds kicks on and off more often then just me doing my thing and letting me get the best gas mileage. I think its more for the lead footed people. Nothing against them but I feel better without it. My two sense.

It might be just me, but i think the MDS worked alot better on my 06 QC, i couldnt tell, besides sound, that it was in MDS, and it wouldnt try to stay in it all the time. And it got better MPG, like the OP said, 21 on the hwy is what i got at 70mph. My '12 RCSB barely gets 20 SOMETIMES. Mixed is 15-16mpg and the 06 stayed around 17mpg.

I'm a newbie to this forum and I feel bad after read everyone's problem with the MDS.

I came with a completely different problem... I'm trying to figure out how to keep the MDS/ECO mode on longer. I am stunned at the mileage I'm getting once I figured out how to feather the throttle just right to keep it in ECO mode. I won't tell you what my mileage has been so far because I've been around internet forums long enogh to know I'll be crucified, but needless to say its getting just as good of mileage as the car it replaced.

So back to my original question, is there a tuner that will make the MDS system lug a bit more before it goes to 8 cyl mode?

Additional info - 2014 CC SLT, 3.92 rear end, 265-70-17 tires, 8spd transmission. Filled with 91 octane (would have run 89, but the station only had 87 or 91).

Haha, figured I would resurrect rather than start yet another MDS thread.

I'm curious if the newer Rams have fixed the earlier problems? I don't have any of the issues described by others. Again, I was hoping there was a way to force MDS to stay on. While I'm driving around town, I don't need 400hp, I'd be happier with the 24mpg.

MDS with larger tires has proven to be useless for us. I tried for a while to max out fuel economy with it, but no matter how hard I tried it did nothing to the mpg numbers. So basically for us, it's a horrible sounding gurgling drone with hesitations as it kicks on and off. I paid for 390 Hp, and I want it on tap constantly. Otherwise I should have purchased a V-6 and added a crappy muffler to try and make it sound like a V-8 and drove around happily with my extra 4-6 MPG's.

Haha, I'm just giving you crap. If you would have started a new thread someone would have complained too. There's no winning around here.

I have MDS on my Jeep SRT and its my least favorite feature. I usually drive in sport mode to keep it from engaging. It really needs a dedicated button to shut it off. I'd turn it off and remove the button forever. That's how much I hate MDS.
