I ordered the 6.4 SRT cam today... Up here in Canada it is just over $100 bucks. I am planning on doing the swap in about 2 weeks. I am doing the cam, headers, intake, e fan etc all at the same time... sadly we got 10" of snow today!! So spring is a little ways away yet..

I have a toasted 2010 5.7 that i am going to take the valve covers off and rotate to see how much room is left over to allow for the extra lift from the SRT cam. there is only about a 3 - 4 mm difference, So my mechanic thinks that we do not require new springs.. or new pushrods. I just want to make sure that with the new cam the springs do not bottom out... so I will know this weekend.
I will take pics and post them along with my results. I am doing everything at once so i will not be able to tell how much just the Cam swap would help.. But.. I am going to do a before and after dyno test..... so that should be interesting..

stay gold pony boy.

More importantly, you need to check piston to valve clearance.

from what i have been reading you will need new springs that might need to be shimmed p# 5037382BC these are the 6.4 springs but you do not need new push rods the 5.7 measure the same. thats what i have been reading but apparently there are 2 different cams for the 6.4s
p# 5038419AB this one for the mds.

p# 5037379BC this one with out mds

Seems like a lot of work/time/money for such little hp gain...if there even is a gain. I haven't seen anyone that really has any hard evidence that there is a big gain.

I have to agree. Without proper gearing, stall, and spinning pass 5950 you won't get the full potential.

6.4 springs don't fit. Manley are direct replacements no shims needed.

Does anyone know approx. the HP gains you get from this? And will gains only be seen in the upper RPM range?

You cannot use the stock springs.

PSI 1511 or Manley are the only options for reliability.

Both install around 1.8 inches.
PSI install at 1.8 inches,
Manley 1.81 with no shimms needed.
I dont think the PSI would need much shimming, especially if you used the stock spring cage, and get some .03 and .06 shims and your good to go.

You wont need to measure the Manley setup.but it is crazy expensive.
Good luck with the build,it is Not a easy fix,for some extra HP up top.
