Default trying to troubleshoot alpine 2013 issue.

hi there,
i have a symptom similar to some posts here in this forum, but was looking for additional insight...

i have a 2013 1500 with the alpine setup. i noticed an issue when driving the other day and the nav voice when mute -- cut out the left side of speakers and no sound... i was able to up the voice volume but then seemed oddly balanced only to the dash speakers.

it seems like the front door speakers are now only doing a low bass response... no mids, no highs. not at all like the rear door speakers.

question is... are the rear door speakers the same as the fronts? should the fronts have a full range, or just the bass portion?

thanks

It would be nice if anyone actually knew the frequency response coming from the 8.4AN to each set of speakers. Are they passive crossover components at the speakers or are they actively crossedover inside the radio going to separate amps in the radio? I can't find this info anywhere but perhaps I have not looked in the right place.

From what I have read the rear doors have a "more full-range" (whatever the heck this means) than the front doors. But apparently neither is full range.

I think from your description I had a similar issue for one trip I took then it all of a sudden cleared up and works fine now. My issue was that the nav voice didn't work at all but the left side stereo attenuated.

You might try the new firmware update as it did fix the surround sound issue.

thanks... i did the update... lots of improvements for other things, but sadly my front speakers are still toast.

where is the amp located and is there and easy way for me to get to it and test it? hopefully, it's not a hard-to-get part for the dealer.

thanks again.
