Default Broke Temp gauge that swings all the way right

Hello and thanks in advance. I have a 2001 2500 4x4 with a 360 and auto. The temp gauge pegs out seconds after the key is on. I put in a new sender and a new gauge and checked the connections. I tried to short the two wires on the sender but that did not change anything.

A little background info if it helps: I have only had the truck about a month. The guy I got it from just put the engine, transmission and rear diff. in. I do not know the level of skill he has or if everything was put back the right way. My ABS, Check Engine, Brake and Air Bag light stays on and the check gages from the temp gauge when it swings over. The truck runs good but the cruise does not work and the 4x4 does not lock in. I have never owned a dodge so I don't know if a light is supposed to come on but I spun the tires on gravel after putting it in 4 low and only the rear grabbed. This is about all I can think of. Thanks!

If anyone is wondering...I got an ECM thinking that could be it and it did not help so I started tracing all the wires...it ended up being the plug on the sensor was pulled out of the socket just enough to not connect, I redid the connection and it works fine now.

Scott, I apologize that no one, including myself, responded to your problem.

I didn't notice the thread, however...I do feel obligated to giving you rep points for posting the solution to your problem.
