I've done all that yet the result are less than well, working. I have to be stopped, engine off, windows up and I can place a phone call. I have yet to successfully speak a navigation destination. My Galaxy S3 understand just fine, while driving and with the radio on.

I disagree, no one uses NC mics, the filtering is done in the software. Every vehicle I've been in recently has the mic located at the roof line, center forward favoring the driver's position. GM locates the mic off the driver's side overhead console, for example.

Where is a better location?

I just figured mine being a TX Lone Star just didn't like my Boston accent so we battled for a bit but its getting better.

I have the RA4 and I can enter my destination through the VR system. Same with texting very functional for me.

I have read ALL the complaint threads and I guess I just got real lucky because I don't seem to have any of the problems everyone else has (knocking on my wood desk).

Not bashing anyone here but I used to work at OnStar years ago and people would call in saying the "woman" couldn't understand them. (The VR) and pretty much everytime it was clear why. Most Americans and some parts of Canada have thick accents and I could barely understand them let alone a computer. I don't mean foreign accents I mean say like a jersey accent or whatever else. Most people don't think they have accents but the creators make the system understand clear non accent English. Or French or whatever. My two cents

On my last truck, '99 chevy 1500
it did not have bluetooth
I installed a PARROT Hands Free Device & put the Noise Cancelling Microphone above my right ear & a couple inches in front of my nose, between the overhead console & the roof liner
There is no cross wind there & the Climate Control Fan did not effect it

I believe Ford has switched the microphone to the drivers side A pillar & i don't know why but it seems to be a better position

With my 2009 Ram, i have to throw my voice at the rear view mirror & i should not have to do that

The Chrysler vehicles with a convertible top can't make calls when moving, again it is because of the microphone location

Ditto, mine absolutely sucked when I first got it. Then I upgraded software when that first one came out that was made available and haven't had a problem since. Understands most everything I say now.
