Default Nitto 420 305 45 22 mpg killer?

I am looking at the nitto 420's in either 22 305 45, or 22 285 45. I hear the 305's are closer to the tire height of the stock 20's, but I don't want to loose too much millage. Is there going to be a big difference between those 2 sizes? Any real world feed back on either of those sizes vs stock would be awesome, thanks everyone.

Hey man whats up. Love the look of those nittos 420s, nice choice! If you have the 17" stocks, the tire is 31.61" tall and 10.43" wide. If you have the stock 20s are 32.99" tall and 10.83" wide. The 305/45r22 are 32.81" tall and 12.01" wide. The 285/45r22 are 32.10" tall and 11.22" wide. I don't really know much about the backspacing and if your new wheels would rub or not, but height wise if you have the stock 20's go with the 305/45...if you have the stock 17s go with the 285/45..Just remember the 305 is considerably wider than either stock size, dont know if you would rub or not with those, depends on backspacing and width of new wheels. And for the gas mileage you might lose a little, no more than 1 mpg i would say, just because of the weight of the 22" versus the stock wheel, but not enough where you wouldn't enjoy looking at those new shoes all the time! haha.. Hope that helps you some brother!

Edit: I just saw the part about the stock 20s in your post, sorry for all the extra stuff lol

Hey no worries, thanks for the info! I actually have the 17 inch prograde tires on my truck. I just figured it would be best to compare the new tires to the stock 20's because the mpg is still ok.

I have the 305/45-22 Nittos, and I didn't notice a significant drop in mileage. I will disclaim that I got a tuner soon afterwards that probably helped a little, and that I don't pay close attention to mileage either. You more than likely will rub the sway bar a little at full steering lock with this size tire/wheel, FYI.

Do they rub enough to cause concern?

With as often as you're ever at full turn, the answer is no. Since you're changing wheels as well, look at what your backspacing is going to be, that will be a big factor in how much/if you rub.

I have replica SRT10s 22x10" and they barely rub the sway bar at full lock. I never turn the wheel that far anyway, so it's not a big deal for me. Like Kurtis said, if you do your homework on the backspacing of the wheels you're looking at it might be possible to get no rub at all. If you're looking at SRT10s then you'll rub a little, because as far as I know they all have the same offset, factory or replica.
