The last Ford I had I gave it away. After it left my wife & I broke in Las Vegas rush hour traffic. I got it back home & gave it away to a guy for free. It had a 460 modified for towing & a modified C-6 for towing. My V10 gets twice the gas mileage that Ford ever got. It cost me a small fortune in repairs. Fix Or Repair Daily even on Sundays.
My 4dr is quiet I don't have any squeaks or rattles.

I have to agree with you 99 V10. I have a 99 also but it's a 2wd QC. Love it and it pulls my 26' travel trailer with no problem. But I do have a question for you. You said you get 400hp and 700 torque? What have you done to get that? Love to have a little more power in the hills, well that's probably the old hot rodder in me.

I guess I missed who claimed those figures, but crap that is more like Viper V10 figures. I'd have to see a dyno sheet on a truck V10 to buy those numbers.
I recently got to compare my V10 to a 2nd Gen 3500 2wd Cummins with an automatic same gears. The same 7% grade 7 mile pull, same weight about 10,000# or close. The Cummins has a Banks Kit on turbo & transmission.
The Cummins pulled the grade half way in overdrive before going into direct @ 40 mph to the top. My V10 5 speed 4x4 2500, pulled 35 mph in third most of the way but topped the pass in 4th @ 50 mph.
So I'm pleased.

Ok, sorry, I thought you said in an earlier post something about getting those numbers. Guess I must have misread or misunderstood. But like I said I like my V10. it does a great job pulling my 26' travel trailer and does better on fuel than my 34' motorhome with a Ford 460, probably going to selling that one anyway.

No problems. I just have a stock V10 5speed 4x4. 300HP/450LB/TORQUE. The only thing not stock is the wheels/tires, & I have a MagnaFlow 2 into 1 muffler.

Guess I wont be upset about 9.8 mpg (highway and city). I sure would like to know more about the 15 mpg's you talked about.

Funny thing is, computer controlled equipment/vehicles run really good, last for a long time and actually have a lot of built in recovery/self preservation programing. I remember when I was a kid, we thought when the vehicle reached 100,000 miles it was garbage. Now a days, we get 200,000 to 500,000. They may leak some oil or use some gas but, they get it.

Before, we had to tune the vehicle and something would make it run funny. We would have to self diagnose the issues and usually throw a ton of money at them to fix it. That is, unless you had a friend who was a trained mechanic or a really smart Dad.

I am giving a history lesson and sharing experiences just to hopefully make you think, with every modification you do, you have trade offs. If you do not care about anything but, looking or sounding cool, it has a cost. If you do not care about anything but, big tires, it has a cost. Those costs are usually fuel economy.

My number 1 concern is fuel economy but, I am not willing to sacrifice my performance to get it. I need to use my truck to pull a very large trailer so, I need torque and horse power as well. If I do not get theses 4 things, it will be time to purchase another type of vehicle. If I wanted an off road truck, I would buy a jeep. If I just wanted race car performance, Viper. You get where I am coming from....

With great power comes great responsibility and these trucks have power! Use it responsible or pay the price. 5 mpg is a heavy price to pay for a daily driver. Cheaper to buy a commuter car.
