Lightbulb 12v to the bed

I'm looking to add a 12v cigarette lighter plug to the bed for either an inverter or extra lighting while I surfcast at night. Any thoughts, Looking for Ideas for set up and mounting locations. Thanks Alberto.

Pretty well anywhere in the side you will find lots of room to put one, but I would suggest Driver side, near the tail gate, easy access when you need it.

Also, easy to send the wires up to the front of the truck, just follow the frame and all the other wires

I have one of the 12 Volt outlets as in the picture. They work great, but they are not waterproof. Make sure you install it under a bed cover or go to a Marine 12v outlet.

Make sure you use a heavier gauge wire for the distance you need to go to get to your battery.

Always a good idea to have extra 12V adapters in the bed of a truck.

Great post, Asur.

Thanks.

I'm thinking about a water proof project box with 2 marine grade cigarette lighter plugs with covers wired with heavy gauge positive cable to the battery. time to go shopping..

why wouldnt you just tap in to the dedicated hot wire on your 7 way trailer plug ?

depending on the size inverter I use I might want a larger gauge wire to the battery. Trailer wires are 12g at most? I'm thinking of running at least 4g. Unless I'm wrong.
