Default Catalytic heat shield fell off.

My catalytic heat shield fell off as I backed out of my driveway. Could not having one cause heat issues? such as starting a fire?, or melting everything around the cat?
Thanks

I know the welds rust out. No biggie, leave it off. You'll notice when your CAT starts to go.

It's only like 5 month's old. So does not having a heat shield make it go faster for some reason?

If its only 5 months old, take it back where you bought it. Most likely overheating, thats why it fell off.
