Default Bully Dog VS Trinity

I've seen a lot of tuner threads, I'm ready to buy one finally. Botha companies of course say theirs is better. I'd like to know from people who have used both, one or the other? It's a 5.7L Hemi I'm know gas mileage isn't going through the roof with a tuner but more so looking to wake it up a bit.

I have flow master muffler, Air raid Intake and power aid TB spacer. It will never have forced induction I'm not tuner crazy I just wanted to free up a little more GO!

Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you looked through the tuner threads discussing the differences between the two? Cause that's essentially what you're asking for and there's tons of information on it.

Here's one thread that came up when I did a quick search: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....ighlight=Bully

The overall consensus is that Bully Dog has better canned tunes (the preset tunes that come loaded on the unit) and the Trinity has the ability to custom tune. If you don't want to mess around with custom tunes then the Bully Dog is a better option. If you want to work with hemifever or whitelightning custom tunes then the Trinity would be better.

Based on the mods you have (if you don't plan on doing much more) I'd say the Bully Dog canned tunes would suit your truck nicely.

And just for the record.... your TB spacer isn't doing anything for your truck. It's essentially a whistle, that's it.

Lol whistle. I appreciate the advice your more than likely right but its to late late now and I kinda like the whistle. I have seen a lot of those threads but I'm actually looking for unbiased info which is exactly what you provided so thank you..

I won't be doing much more, maybe step up from 3.55 gears to 3.92 or 4.10 but that's it.

Money is no issue I can buy whatever I want for a tuner I just want the right one for my uses wether it be more expensive or cheaper.

Yesterday was the last straw, 63mph I floored it to pass a slow car it thought for a sec, kicked down 1 gear Lugged for a solid 1sec then kicked down 1 more and roared past. I want this frustrating scenario eliminated or I'm gonna park it and buy the dreaded EcoBoost

Honestly if money isn't an issue and you feel like dealing with custom tuning I would go with the Trinity with a Whitelightning custom tune from Bullys Performance. That way it will be custom tuned to your truck to give you the optimum performance.

Definitely know what you mean about the shift points. I can't stand to drive my truck without my Bully Dog now for that very reason. It's just unbearable....

Well I appreciate the advice greatly and I'll go to that website now. As I said earlier I'm not to keen on doing the whole custom thing so it would need to be a plug and play type thing from the manufacturer, if they don't offer that then bully dog it is. One way or another this truck needs improvement on the get up and go and lag time when I stomp it.

Thanks again for the advice to a not so tuner intelligent guy haha!

Take it into dodge and get them to do the transmission update. I had it done and the trans is much more responsive. I'm just waiting, for this weekend, to hook onto my holiday trailer again to see how it pulls now...I still might get a tuner.

Tried that already, no transmission update for mine but ther was a performance and drive ability update, had it done. Almost an un noticeable diff.

Got my tuner, went with the T1000 from hemifever. It's awesome, so glad I did it. Mpg average jumped from a consistent 14.2 to 15.8

Got get ur self that diablo sport. Bullydog is what I was looking at then I came across a thread about them and a lot of guys were complaining about a ticking from the engine. Some said they didn't experience this but it was already enough to scare me away.

Found Hemifever . Bought my T1000 through him and his custom tune came with it for free

your new program installed yet? imho, bullydog is the go to chip for diesel engines, not so much for gas engines.

What you need is to boost line pressure in the transmission. Either with a shift improver kit from Trans-Go, or if there is a plug and play unit like there is for the diesel trannys.
