Default Self-adhesive pebbled vinyl (bedliner look). Anyone used? Opinions?

I just found this stuff last week and got my order in the mail Friday. I haven't seen any mention of it on here before so I thought I would share and get some opinions.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pebble-textu...5b5239&vxp=mtr

This isn't for everyone but if you have a place to put it, you are probably thinking about it right now. Mine is on the front bed rail, on the top where the drop-in bedliner that used to be there rubbed the clear and some of the paint off of the metal. I'm going to apply this to that rail. I was originally thinking of having the spray-in bedliner place tape it off and spray just that rail while they were already doing another truck...figured it would cost me $60-70. Then I ran across this. Cost me $20 to get a 9' piece shipped to me. It may be next weekend but I will take some photos of the before and after on my particular project and give a little review after I get it put on. In the meantime, just wanted to throw this product out to everyone. Also, the shipping from the seller was very fast.

Now for the opinion part. I had the lower door trim pieces painted a while back and put them back on with 3M double sided tape. They were fine for a while but I'm guessing the cold weather made the urethane shrink and the tape is coming loose. I was wondering what it would look like if I took the pieces off and cut some of this material in the same shape as the trim pieces and put it back on the doors instead? Any thoughts? My first thought was that it would stick out but the more I think about it the more I think it would kinda match the black stripes on my hood. Leaving the trim pieces off isn't an option because the truck has been painted on one side and you can tell when the pieces are off.

Thanks everyone and I will update when I get the area on my bed covered.

I like the looks of this, may buy for work truck and trailers. I bought some similar product last year, was more like aggressive sandpaper, didn't stick like I had hoped. How flexible is this product. Do you think it old be used on door sill to protect painted areas? Thanks.

Yeah, I saw a truck with some of the more aggressive stuff stuck on the lower fenderwells as a rock guard I suppose. It looked good but as you said, it was really really rough stuff. Bout like 800 grit, lol. I wanted something a little smoother and this stuff is perfect. To try to answer your question, it seems really flexible. With the right prep I don't see why it wouldn't conform and stick to uneven or curved surfaces. I'm not exactly sure what you mean with the door sill question. Could you explain in a little more detail how you want to use it?

I finally got the front rail of my bed covered today. I used the precut edge of the material for the straight edge of the rail and left enough material on the other side to more than cover what I needed. Then I used a razor knife and simply ran it down the front curved part of the rail to cut off the excess and leave a straight, smooth cut. I could have taken my time but I was running out of daylight and in a hurry. Even so, it was easy and turned out really good. There are a couple of tiny areas where I cut a little too much off but they are so small that you can't tell unless you are in the bed scrutinizing the rail. So far, I am really impressed. Now to see if it stays on there or not, lol. In the meantime here's a couple of pics.

I'm gonna order some of this for my new truck and work truck and trailers. I like how it looks on your truck. Looks like LineX from your pictures. I was looking for something to protect the door sills(?) on my trucks, the part that's painted and gets scratched from muddy shoes getting out of vehicle. I saw some clear stuff that was advertised for that use, but was expensive and didn't look all that impressive. I figure I'll order 10-20 feet of the pebbled vinyl and try it. Thanks for the info.

Oh yeah, I gotcha now. Yeah, I think it would work good for that. It's not really too thick so I don't think it will hold up to much weight or abrasion but it should hold up to the occasional boot impact. It worked perfectly for what I wanted it for and looks great. The question is how well it will stay on there. There isn't really anything that touches the area where I put it on my truck so it should stay put. The great part is that it's cheap enough if it doesn't work out for some reason it's no great loss.

Hope it works well for you guys.

Just an update on this product....still looks like the day I put it on. I highly recommend it if you have a place that needs something like this.
