so they're working on it in July for the torque managemet or is that now you have update on

Be warned,
Torque Management is the last check stop between a fast truck and roasted tranny.
Removing too much is like ripping a band-aid off an open wound.

Stock Ram transmissions are notoriously weak
...anyone who races on a regular basis should have a plan for a built transmission.
People will dump thousands into engine performance enhancement and appearance but not one dime towards the weakest link in the chain.
I'll admit I've been lucky so far, but I can already tell my stock trans days are numbered at less than 22k miles on the odo.

It skips on downshifts much to often and there's traces of burnt friction material in the trans fluid,
no codes thrown yet and hopefully my "built" trans arrives in July before it does give up the ghost.

No more track for me until then.

Good Luck!

Back when I beta tested for superchips when they were coming out with transmission tuning for the 3rd gen rams we messed around with torque management a lot. Almost to a man, we all found that totally removing torque management actually slowed down our trucks. Best results were achieved by leaving a minimal amount of tm in the tune. I personally had and still have best results running with 6% tm.

What are your times looking like ORT? On my 03 I had no option as far as trans tuning, all we had was a torque management wire on the tcm that we cut and it made a world if difference, I was barking 1-2 shifts with just a 22" magnaflow for mods

You are right about the week link but the problem is the down shifting when you are in D.Most of the time your trans is dropping down 3and 4 gears to get to the gear you want, like when your at 65 in D and you nail it.think about this your moving from 6 all the way down to 3rd and thats a BIG problem for these 5,6 and8 speed trans no matter who made it.Ford,GM or ram.my ford made hundreds of passes between 13.0 and 11.60's and never had a drop of trouble in 2 years and 40,000 miles.I have 2 nephews with 05 rams that run in the 12's one got 75k from his stock trans and the other is still going strong. So alyhough your right they are weak put your truck in the gear you want to be in and manualy shift and you will see alot more miles from your trans.

I haven't done a run of any kind in probably 9 months. Probably won't make any runs until the fall. Just swapped converters again this past week. Hopefully that will help the old girl out a little.

So how'd that work out for you, roasted trans a little bird told me this morning...

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=129328&page=4

Sorry for repeating myself...

You guys are just asking for trouble trying to tune out the torque management on these POS tranny's.
That's Dodge's only band-aid holding these poor things together.

I've ran my 10' Hemi HARD, Going into my 4th season at the track now
but Never on a Hemifever or White Lighting tune. Just a 93 canned Diablo tune.

Bone stock my 10' RCSB 4x4 ran mid 15's on 20's/33"rubber with 3.55's at 2500' DA,
with minor bolt on's (intake/catback/93 Diablo tune and DR's... 13.89/98 (13.4/102 DA corrected)

FYI:
an MGH Transmission built for 500HP/TQ at the wheels
Goes for about $2500 c/w his custom trans tuning.
I wont even install my Ripp until I get his built trans that can take the power.

He charged me $500 for one of his cores that's on the bench being torn down right now.
and he also ordered me a triple disc ATS 3k stall at his cost because he has big plans in the works tuning it to lock it up under WOT in 2nd gear.

Quote:
The stock pump can make, 185psi. I modify the pump and valve body to make 225psi, and my tune controls the tran to use all that pressure. I also machine parts to add clutches for more friction area. Stock 2C has 2 clutches and 2 steels, I install 4 clutches and 4 steels. Stock Overdrive has 5 double sided clutches and 4 steels, I install 14 single sided clutches. Stock Underdrive has 4 double sided clutches and 4 steels, I install 12 single sided clutches.
Anyone who races should have a transmission back-up plan

If you've been warned and still don't care, I'm sorry but I Will laugh at you when you break your shit

Torque managment actually is the opposite of a shift kit. It causes the clutches to hold to each other longer for smoother shifts causeing more wear on the transmission. In a lot of cases it prolongs the transmission with no torquemanagement
