Default Fuel tank range

Wanting to know how far I could get on a 32 gallon tank, I ran it down to when it said my remaking range was 18 miles, figuring that would leave about 1 gallon left. I stopped once on the way to the large grocery chain to take advantage of $1.00 off per gallon. When I got back in the truck, where it normally tells you your range, it now said LOW FUEL,as soon as I started down the road it changed back to the 18 mile range remaining. So thinking I was going to take full advantage of the fuel discount, I started pumping away...only to end up only squeezing a little over 28.77 gallons in it. Bottom line is I guess they are a little conservative on the fuel gauge.

Yes sir. Even on the 26 gallon the 'FEED ME' light pops on with about 3.5 gallons left. I guess it makes sense, since depending what you're doing (Towing [10mpg] -> Cruising [20mpg]) it could be anywhere between 35 and 70 miles in range. So, I guess they error on the safe side.

When I go to fill-up (32 gallon tank) I take along a 5 gallon gas can so I can take advantage of the 30 gallon fuel discount.

My fuel light comes on around 45 miles till empty and I have about 5 gallons in the tank.

That's better than my 2002 with the 26 gallon tank. When the light comes on, I can only put 18-19 gallons in it. The main reason why I ordered the 32 gallon in the 2013.

Dont forget fuel in tank keeps the fuel pump running cool,so waiting till you are on the last gallons before fillup might not be to good for the fuel pump.

I can only ever fit 28 gallons in as well. Fuel light comes on with 5 gallons left I figure.

I thought I read in the Owner's Manual that the light comes on with 3.5 gallons remaining. I drove mine until the light came on for the first time today. It came on when I was between 48 & 45 miles remaining. I drove 3 miles to a gas station and could only squeeze 27.6 gallons into it. I figure mine must have came on with about 5 gallons left in it. By the time I got to the station my remaining mileage was 28 miles to empty.

I wouldn't push using all the gas in the tank
when mine gets down to 1/4 tank, i am looking for a gas station
sometimes in Texas, 1/2 tank is all i am going to let it get down to, once you leave Odessa heading west, you best have a full tank of gas
most the gas stations have closed up going west from there

no way that i want the fuel pump to get even warm by running it Low
none of the gas stations are open in Van Horn to El Paso at night & if they are, you are going to pay dearly, most have been closed for years

I usually fill it up when I have about 50-60 miles left when in town. Only twice I ran until the warning light came on. I managed to fill up to about 29 1/2 gallons at one time. Normally it will be around 26-28 gallons. Outside city, I always top it off when I can or no lower than 1/4 tank .
