both Sirius & XM use different types of satellites

Both Sirius & XM Satellite* radio are intended (and licenced) to provide service to only North America.
Siruis utilizes inclined elliptical geosynchronous orbiting satellites, which provide a larger coverage area than XM’s geostationary satellites.
Neither system actually “turns off” their up-down link at the equator ~ the satellites just lose their line-of-site.
they depend on Repeater Stations

Notwithstanding, as currently configured, Sirius is generally available through Mexico & Pueto Rico, while XM has an even smaller footprint. Both should be available in Bermuda.

your Blackberry, Iphone & some other smart devices have an APP for satellite radio & it suppose to be free or close to it

Traded in my 2008 F-150 with Sirius on a new 1500 with SXM. Im getting SXM signal drop-outs all over the place where I never had drop-outs in signal with my F-150 and Sirius or my wifes Mercedes with SXM.
I did the Uconnect update which helped a bit but it still had poor SXM reception. Living and driving in and around Prince George I only had three spots that I have a signal drop with either my old Ford or my wifes Mercedes. I cant count the dead spots that I have encountered with this new Ram 1500.
I even told the sales manager to take my trade-in on a drive around town to see the difference.
I think Ram needs to redesign the antenna on their vehicles.

I don't know how XM works, but with Sirius you always had the ability to listen to the majority of their stations through your regular web browser for no charge if you were currently a subscriber.

When they first came out with the APP for BB they wanted to charge you an additional monthly fee to use it. I think they realized that charging money for an APP that you could just as easily use with your web browser on your phone made no sense at all, and now offer it for free.
