So I'll be the old man on this forum. Put your seatbelt on and it won't chime.

I don't want to lecture so I'll keep it short. A seatbelt will save your life in a wreck and your family will be happy you had it on.

I am a seatbelt advocate, but there are times when it is a hindrance.

When I load bales I drive from bale to bale and for the amount of in and out it is incredibly annoying. With my old truck it would beep three times and then just keep the light on and not beep anymore. It never stops chiming with this truck.

I'm going to try disabling it next time I'm in it.

Hey guys, I bought my ram last week and the seatbelt light won't shut off, but it also doesn't beep when I am not wearing my seatbelt, so I am assuming that the prior owner did this to the truck.

My question is, how can you reverse the action? plz help thanks.

This weekend I successfully disabled the seat belt chime using the technique mentioned for the push start. You have to be in Run mode, then perform the steps identified. Worked like a charm.

From what I understand, you reverse, or enable, it the same way that you disable it. I have not tried this on my 3rd generation Ram, but this is what I found with Google search and I believe it is posted earlier in this thread.

The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be enabled
or disabled by your authorized dealer or by
following these steps:

NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first
60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON
or START position. DaimlerChrysler does not recommend
deactivating the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert).

1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and
buckle the driver's seat belt.
2. Start the engine and wait for the Seat Belt Warning
Light to turn off.

3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle
and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least three
times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt
buckled.

NOTE: Watch for the Seat BeltWarning Light to turn on
while unbuckling and off while re-buckling the seat belt.
It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.

**this is kinda weird** (improvement)

4. turn the key *slowly* so that the power to the radio goes off but the engine is running, you should now here a CHIME and the parking brake indicator light will come on now also. PAUSE. then turn the ignition off all the way, you should now here another CHIME.

in MY '05 RAM it works like this, but in a newer built RAM or your Dakota it might not, good luck.
