(4th gen trucks only?)
Rather than packing in more OEM 545 clutches he has basically taken a 68rfe, greatly increased the clutch numbers, and packed it into a 545 housing. The 68rfe hold big numbers in stock form, I know 3 guys with 500hp/900ft-lb+ still running stock trans behind their diesels with only input/output shaft upgrades. How long they'll last still remains to be seen, but they're doing well so far.

I know Sharadon has done great work with their trans, but I have personally had a bad experience with them from a customer service point of view, so I wasn't very keen on working with them on my new truck. I know I'm not going to be making anywhere near the power you are, so I'm confident that Mike's trans will handle the 550-600hp I'm expecting.

Thanks, I remembered he was using something from the 68RFE but I couldn't remember what it was. It must be quite expensive buying new OEM parts instead of modifying the originals.

I have a question. Isn't what L&m basically building a 66rfe? Which is basically a 68 in a 545 case. With some upgraded hard parts?

There are no aftermarket hard parts for a 545RFE or variation of, or need for them. The stock parts are tough enough.

LOL!

I'm not sure Mike wants his build specs to be public knowledge
But its SO much more than a 66RFE...and very little of it is 545RFE components

It's a combination of superior frictions , machined components for more room with about 14 more frictions than stock, about 40psi more line pressure with modified pump and valve body, and the third piece of the triple whammy, and likely the most critical....superior tuning to make it all work together in harmony.

Mike is even taking it one step further for those willing to invest in an ATS Triple Lok TC where he should be able to program it for full lock-up after first gear at WOT for 2nd and 3rd full power to the pavement on Boosted Rams.

Ok I was just wondering from what I was reading. Looking forward to your install to hear some feedback.

Me as well. I've had a few emails with Mike and so far, so good. Heck, he's even in Delaware which I pass through often for business.

Where does he buy all new 66rfe parts? When I priced out a few hard parts I needed for my 545rfe years ago, the bill would have been around $3000 for a handful of parts only. Sounds like his transmission is very similar to the others but his tuning is really the advantage at keeping it all happy happy.

I dont know where he is sourcing parts from lately,
but I think when he first started rebuilding several years ago
Mike may have been getting parts through a shop like This vs going through a dealer.

But I do know he also has an inside contact to get Mopar parts much cheaper than we could.
