hard wiring..i wonder how difficult that could be. seems to me a wire to a hot lead with the toggle button in between would just about do it. but it might be more complicated. anybody here do that? if so, please let me know.

the dealership has been in touch with the dodge tech support. there is no fix except the hard wiring suggestion that this forum has suggested. .thanks!

if it cant be fixed using the fold-in button, then a toggle switch somewhere would satisfy me. but i'll insist it should look good. they are getting a cost, but they may give it to me. so far, with all the change out time for the electric folding mirrors, they haven't charged me anything..because..quote..'we couldn't get it to work for you.' unquote. that's very good of them. in that respect, I am a 'happy camper'.

happy 4th to all my USA friends and family.

There were no electric fold trailer tow mirrors manufactured for the 2013's.

thanks.

the mirrors that came with the truck were called, as I understand it, trailering mirrors and not available with the electric fold feature. I agree with you on that point. so, I asked the dealer to install mirrors that would do that. he did. he took the 'electric folding mirrors' off a truck he had on the lot and switched them. said that this feature is new for 2013. not trailering tow mirrors, but a different name for them. when you look at the pictures that were sent in this thread you can see what the controls now look like. the switched mirrors don't stick out quite as far and do fit thru my garage door more easily..but it's a tight fit. it's just that they can't get them to fold with the electric button.

I have the trailer tow mirrors on my 13 and have wanted to change them out to a standard mirror. After talking to Dodge, my parts guy and a level 4 Dodge mechanic at the dealership I found out that (they all say) it can not be successfully done. The wiring is different, the plugs are different, you run the risk of getting a warning light on the dash and the computer will not reconize the new type mirrors. The two big differences seem to be is that the trailer towing mirrors are not electric fold and all the standard mirrors are elec fold, and if I wanted to try a older model(11 or 12) they wouldn't work either because 13 was the first year they put the temp sensor in the mirror housing. I finally gave up and pray everyday that my wife doesn't leave one of the mirrors on the ground just outside the garage door---LOL

not being married, i'd have only myself to blame. seriously..it can be very tricky getting into the garage when there's lots of snow. I have slid onto a mirror. mind you, having a 4x4 is much better than 2wd.

I have done the swap and your local dealerships employees are incorrect and incompetent as with all employee at any dealership.

The wiring is NOT different.
The plugs are NOT different.
I have no codes.

I'm still in search for an answer too after I swapped out my tow mirrors, door modules for both doors, and both window switches.

We examined the wires and plugs very closely and all wires/colors match.

Hey "trash" If you have done the swap then why does it not work? I take offense to you saying all dealership employees are incompetent as I am a dealership employee and have contributed to this forum on more than one occasion. I AGREE that some dealership employees may be incompetent that does happen as with anything. But dont throw us all under the bus because you had a bad experience with one.. Sorry to get off topic but sometimes I can't contain myself when people say ugly words....
