Cool Tire choices

I have some 275/65/20 michelins on my truck now which is about a 34 in tire. Not really liking the gas mileage. Has anyone ran with 33/12.50/20 if so how was the mileage?

By having 34" tires you will lose mileage and the speedo /odo will read low. As a rule the more aggressive the tire, the worse the mileage. The crappy GY's that come on our truck probably give best economy and worst traction.

I run the Goodyear duratracs in a 285/60r20 and great tire with low road noise and decent off road. They aren't cheap but I do like them and they fit stock wheels without levels or spacers. I do have a 2" level and aftermarket wheels by choice it wasn't needed. Not to bad on mileage either. The dealer fixed the computer for the small size difference since they are about 33.5 instead of 33's tall.

I am running 305/55R20 which is essentially a 33x12. I went from the stock Goodyear SRA 275/60 to a Falken all terran. The tires are pretty much the same height. According to my mileage computer, on my drives to and from work, there isn't enough difference in mileage to notice. That is not highway driving though. I have only had them a week but averaging 18.5mpg.
