so i need to check out this new 2014 2500 6.4 Hemi, this thread is the first i have heard of this truck. I guess I need to do some more research.
So if i go with 1500 make sure i get 3.92 gears? I understand higher ratio equals less gas mileage but it can't be any worse than my 02 1500 5.9 magnum. I am currently getting 9.7 mpg all around...LOL
Yes, the 2500 with the 6.4 is definitely worth looking into. There has been a few threads on the forum talking about it already. You could use the search engine to find those.

In a 1500 I would definitely recommend 3.92 gears no matter what.... but for towing you will definitely want them. The 3.92's have the 10,000+ pound tow rating. 3.92's will give you slightly less fuel economy than 3.55's, but it will be very minimal. Definitely a lot better than your 5.9!

With my Hemi 1500 Outdoorsman with 3.92 gears, I get 13mpg in town, 18mpg on the highway with regular use. Towing my camper, well, that's a little less exciting. Around 7mpg at that point.

If you are ordering a truck and it sounds like you might, getting the 3.92 gears would be the wise thing to do. Having said that, if you end up buying off the lot, know the 3:55 gearing is not too shabby. There have been a number of folks on this forum, who have posted good towing experiences towing fairly heavy loads.

If you dont think there is any difference between a 1500 and a 2500 just take one look at the front diff theree is day and night difference. This is just one feature there is many
