If the govt. wants to spy on me I think it would be pretty boring for them. I'm your typical Ga. boy. My life is somewhere between Duck Dynasty and Honey Boo Boo. This forum is the only "social media" I partake in.

Does anyone actually think someone is going to get bored one day and try and fined out what time you went to Starbucks to pick up your frappa-mocha-latte-chai-inno? No. If there is an Amber Alert and the vehicle matches yours then yes they will cross reference and see if your vehicle was in the vicinity. Know how to avoid that? Don't be a pedophile.

It's not like this data crosses someone called "The Government's" computer. There isn't one single person who looks at all these pictures, tracks your movements, scribbles them down, and updates a super secret Starbucks data base.

Is it an invasion of privacy? Are you really "private" driving around a public street? If YOU see something weird or funny don't you take a cell phone picture? You know the difference between the government and us? They have better cameras with larger hard drives.

Paranoid people please put on your aluminum foil hats before replying.
The only way I could agree with this post more is if I had typed it myself!!

We as a society rely on the very people that we condemn for "collecting data" on us.

If a friend or family member gets hurt or killed (god forbid), don't we want the police to pull up the security cameras to see if they can catch the person who committed the crime?

One only has to look at the Boston bombing to see that video surveillance is a brilliant thing!

I for one don't care how many cameras are installed an where.....(change rooms and bathrooms perhaps excluded), but the more we have the safer I feel.

I look at England as just one example of a huge network of cameras that has caught more than it's fair share of illegal activity, and have quickly and effectively caught the bad guy(s).

If you aren't doing anything against the law, then why worry?

And before you ask........yes I would have my taxes raised to help support said equipment!

a new cell phone that just came out, can be locked by you, all information is also erased & the phone is rendered useless, if it is stolen

your tv is equipped with a V chip & it tracks what you watch

do you trust your computer that has a built in camera & microphone ?? i don't

for several years now, most USA built vehicles have at least 2 tattle tale systems in them
The first one is called a EDR, (event data recorder) that records something like the last 30 seconds of driving, before something like an accident happens

the 2nd one is a wireless system, in the instance like ONSTAR in GM vehicles, the police can call ONSTAR & ONSTAR can disable your vehicle, by shutting down all but 2 cylinders, so you still have braking & steering, but no acceleration

I hope that no one that is paranoid reads this post

I had the GPS tracking for my phone. Used it once. Turns out i I left it in my buddies truck and another friend had his phone stolen and went to the persons house andgot it back, I guess he caught them off guard. Its free but only works if the phone is turned on. Its called where's my droid.

As for the vehicle thing, I'm not doing anything illegal so oh well, its just another way to waste our money that we have no control over, they'll just find some other stupid thing to use later.

Last summer when I had my 08 pontiac torrent I got a letter from the MTO (ministry of transportation Ontario) stating that my vehicle was spotted on the 403 (Main highway) asking where I was coming from and where my destination was and how many times a week I do the drive. Creepy.. Very creepy.

And with the Onstar system in the GM vehicles.. The tracking system and vehicle theft shutdown is only available if you pay for the feature and it is the upgraded package. My dad just got a 2012 Caddy SRX4 in December.. He can monitor everything through his Iphone including when an oil change is needed and can start/ stop from it. When he ran a GM dealership years back his one friend had his CTS stolen from his garage and left the corvette beside it in the garage and onstar was able to shut it down before they got it to the known chop shop and the vehicle was returned all safe.. So has it advantages.

No it was the MTO.. They had the date and such recorded and time exact of when I was spotted, matches up with my daily schedule when I am either time or speeding along.. I do remember that week seeing some of the MTO vehicles sitting along the side of the highway. I more then likely was just speeding along a little too fast.

My friends are also was to lazy to try and pull one of those stunts.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin

If I'm not doing anything wrong, why are they watching me?
You feel safe knowing a camera will be there to record something horrible happening to someone? Wouldn't it be better to prevent it in the first place? You don't do that with cameras. That approach reminds me of a scene in "Full Metal Jacket" when the DI finds one guy has a jelly donut. So, he punishes everyone else then tells the soldier, "Here! They're paying for it, you eat it!" I wonder just how much more bassackwards things can get.

We have set some things in motion that we could not see the results and now it is too late. I love my country, went to war to defend her, but right now just kind of feel like a passenger on the titanic. We can see the iceberg but can't do anything about it and the band is playing like nothing is wrong.

This story is just a small item, but a perfect example of of what we have let our government become. They are doing it because the can and we are paying for it.
