when i got to work today i went to turn the truck off and the keys wouldnt turn. they are stuck in the on postion. wont turn to off or start. any ideas?

have you tried pulling the shifter up? i know occasionally i will have to pull the shifter up for it to let the key turn all the way back.

theres a electrical box that has a rod going from it to the key. i think its froze up. where tje rod goes into it wont slide. plastic aroumd one of the connectors is melted.

That's the ignition switch.

Is the wheel locked? The switch isn't very expensive. The two thick red wires (maybe purple with a black tracer) should be the power/start to crank the engine. If you can find the power on (smaller wire I forget which color) and jump it to get the dash to light up, jump the two red wires to crank in and start it.

Pull the first smaller jumper wire to shut it down.

theres a box under the dash that the rod goes to and its melted and wont slid. do you know what tjat box is called?

nevermind it is a switch. found it on advanced auto website. its not as expensive as i thought. its only $22. thats for the help.

When you install it, unhook the battery. Remove the 2 nuts/bolts that hold it on, unplug it (Lift the lock tabs).

When re-installing, leave the plug till last. Center the switch over the rod and then slide it (it'll be springy (springy is a technical term)). Line up the bolt holes and install them. then plug it in last.

This way the truck doesn't try to start during the installation.
