I am not worried at all. Fiat acquired Ferrari and that brand has been around almost 100yrs and it is still around operating under its own name. It is all about money. Fiat nor Chrysler would ever gain any more money by branding all Chryslers Fiats or vice versa. Plus they know they would receive a lot of backlash from the masses for doing so.

The only reason Fiat owns a percentage of the interest in Chrysler was because Chrysler wanted their technology and design data to help Chrysler build smaller more economical cars for the US market. In exchange Chrysler gets a piece of the pie from all sales Fiat makes in the US market so technically they own a piece of each other. Again nothing to worry about.

Little more complicated than that in terms of the marriage. Sergio saw synergies that Daimler ignored/couldn't fathom. Chrysler has enormous engineering capabilities as well as large/SUV/truck experience. Fiat has enormous experience with small/midsize vehicles and commercial trucks. The sales areas around the world also didn't overlap.

Add that up with a lot of other things and you have more reasons than not to merge at that point. So far so good

Dodge isn't going anywhere.

Big mistake, the germans cut Plymouth and lost sales that never came back. the same will happen with Dodge

The thing about Plymouth is that people knew what they where buying. They didn't expect anything more for the quality that the car company made. Out of the three company's at the time Plymouth had the most satasfied cous timers and the least amount of complaints.
