Default 03 4.7 need buying advice on lash adjusters

I bought a 2003 quad cab today with the 4.7 powertech in it and on the way home it managed to spit out something in the valvetrain and leave a dent in the valve cover. The engine bogged and then stalled. I had a quick look at the engine bay and there is a dent/crack towards the back of the engine on the passenger side valve cover. The crack is about 1/4 inch long total. From the little research that I have done it looks like the rocker arm (correct term?) decided to fall out from between the lash adjuster and the camshaft due to a sticky valve. I am thinking that if the piston decided to say hi to the valve that there would be a much bigger hole in the valve cover and possibly the hood.

Current plans are to start with pulling the valve covers to see what's going on around the cams and replacing the lash adjusters. I will pull the heads if necessary to have a look at the piston. Which brings me to my next question. Can anybody recommend one brand over another for lash adjusters? Do i stick with genuine mopar lash adjusters from the stealership or are they a pretty generic part that I am ok with ordering from the local parts store and not caring about brand? Is there a specific online store that you guys recommend?

So I ordered the solid lash adjusters and the miller tool from airram. Now just waiting for them to arrive.

In the meantime I replaced the spark plugs and and the throttle position sensor
I had a code P0068 and I figured that the plugs were due for a change.

When I pulled the rear passenger plug it came out a little harder than the rest of them. Just a little bit of dragging as it came out of the threads. Turns out the hook on the bottom is mangled and a few threads aren't perfect anymore. This is the cylinder that I had the rocker arm fall out of.

So now im looking at either pulling the motor and replacing it or pulling the motor and fixing the parts in the cylinder head. I need to have a look at both the valves and the top of the piston before I do too much though.

Last thing, the timing chains and sprockets. Are they probably needing to be replaced at 300,000 kilometers? Or are there specs somewhere that say the amount of deflection and tooth wear is acceptable?

If anyone with experience wouldn't mind chiming in that would be great.
