Well had a beautiful day here today, decided to do my rear seat head rest mod. Hope you like it.
So this is what I did, I was tired of having these huge 9 x 9 head rests on the rear seat of the truck and decided I would do something about it. I pulled them off and found at the scrap yard 2 rear seat head rests for the rear center passenger, you know the small one
here is pic of the stock setup in the truck, as you can see the center one is a cute little unit compared to the billboards on both sides.
So what I did was remove the 2 large one on each side. and picked up 2 centers from the scrap yard.
Now you cannot just put the small ones on the outside as the center one the poles that hold it in are about 3 inches apart and the larger units on the outsides are around 5 1/2 inches apart. So what I did is I took a 1" wide by about 6 inch's by 1/8 thick plate drilled 4 holes into it, then cut the poles off the 2 center units and welded them to the plate, proceded to then weld the plate to the headrest, this gave me the proper spacing for the poles and 1/8 in plate is very strong. Here's what it looks like done.
Painted the plate and installed the units, Love the view now out the rear, easy to clean the window, and when I fold the back seat down it has room and I don't have to move the front seats forward for it to flip down all the way.
sorry for the crappy pics, if anyone has questions let me know here or PM me.
