Default nitrogen air question

Hey guys I had a nail in my tire and I fixed it. In the process some air came out and now the truck is giving me low air pressure in that tire. I have nitrogen in my tires. And I put in regular air to top it back up or do I have to put nitrogen. I get free top ups of nitrogen at my dealer but my dealer is kind of far away. Where else can I get nitrogen air. All 3 tires have 240 and the one 199

you can put regular air in. I mean air is already what..almost 75% nitrogen anyway. Never really understand the point of N2 filled tires. But whatever floats your boat!

if you have N2 you can put up to 20 psi of air.

ask the mech at the dealership the one day bc tire was a little low. he said you dont have to come in to get N2 or w.e if you need just a little bit of air no big deal. he said can get away with 20 psi of air with the N2 but no more then that. didnt ask why tho

hmmmm Welp.

to each their own, the only reason I'd use N2 would be to "slow down" the permeation of air out of the tire. but that's never been an issue for me. seems silly to me.

interesting the mech guy said that. ill have to look into it

i kinda figured thats all the N2 did was help hold in the air, other then to reduce moisture.
but why can you only go 50/50 max? (air/N2) tires are 44 max psi.

no problem. let me know what you come up with. curious myself

Nitrogen molecules are bigger and when put into a tire they are supposed to leak much less. Persoanlly I think its a racket for tire shops and car dealers.

I agree. Like I said, air is ~75% N2 anyway. So at worst case scenario, there is only 25% left to "leak out" faster than N2.

i agree too. but not fully. i agree in the sense that it doesnt make sense the only 20psi of air when air is mostly N2 so to use it to prevent more leaks is pointless really.
heres the but, N2 is much cleaner then air and this will help keep your rims and tires from rotting away sooner. so theres a benefit
