Default factory exhaust stainless?

Is the factory exhaust supposed to be stainless? Completely or from muffler back? Ive seen where ppl have said it was such, and I was looking at swapping my cross over pipe and y pipe and just to make sure before I bought anything I stuck a magnet up there and it sticks. So its not stainless there.

I guess its T-409 stainless. After you confirmed its stainless I googled about it some and it being T-409 would explain the magnet sticking and its slightly rusted like color. Its certainly not 304 from tha factory. Still stainless I reckon. Just makin sure for when I do any welding. Thanks

It is all SS. Magnets will stick to SS depending on iron content. I believe the stock exhaust is 409 and it holds up pretty well. One property of 409 though is that it will form a layer of rust once combined with the exhaust gases, but this actually protects the pipe from corroding further.

'tis a well known fact:

"Corrosion Resistance
Grade 409 resists atmospheric and exhaust gas corrosion. A light surface rust will form in most atmospheres; this rust retards further corrosion but makes the surface undesirable for decorative applications. The corrosion resistance is about the same as that of 3CR12 and the 12% chromium martensitic grades such as 410, and inferior to the 17% chromium grade 430."

Yea, i just wanted to verify before I bought pipe to change the cross-over pipe with. I read a lil about the properties of 409 and figured thats what it had to be. Thanks for tha feedback.
